i also have a 450se rex

Oh so you're one of those blingy pilots lol
I have 2 quite humble 450XL's that I fly in the garden, the Rexs are very quick heli's maybe if you are having a lot of crashes you need it tamed down a bit.
Lets see a pic of your birds

Hi Dominic, Broker just wants a SE with all those blue metal parts !!lol

Welcome, The step up from a Twister Bell to the Rex is a big one but you can do it ! What can you do with the Rex? can you hover a pack out but find it harder to move or just too twitchy ? :(

Don't worry Dominic, I am one of those blingy pilots as well.
Love the 450SE.

I must say I didn't at first though, it may have been because I have always been used to flying larger Nitro helis. The more I fly it the more I enjoy it now though.

Welcome to the forum.

HI, you can do a lot to make it respont slower with settings of the Tx, If you have a Tx with model memorys I would copy what you have now into another memory, call it rex backup, then try changing settings, expo would be a good one to start with, even swash AFR. If it all ends bad you still have the backup setup saved !

I'm a little opposite of toning down the heli by much, some may be good like 20% or so. 1st I'd have a look at "Radd's school of rotary flight" http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html and give that a try.

The coaxial will teach you many good things like orientations and control directions. It will also teach you "stick banging" I think starting at the basics with Radd's long enough to get the feel of how responsive the Trex is would be a good start. I'm also kinda assuming that since it is tested and flys well the tester would have toned it down if it was too skittish for a beginner?

Between the 2 methods you should be flying without filling the kindling box with 315 pros.

I find the T Rex 450 on the Phoenix flight sim realistic !! Do you have a sim?

If you chat the shop who set it up it is worth asking how soft he set it. Did he know your flying the Bell ? If he was to say it should be find for you keep going as is.

I am sure he don't want you to keep going back to buy his replacment parts to fix it up every time you crash lol lol lol

Hi Dominic

Just logged in and see you're in Faversham. For your info there are a bunch of guys who fly at Cornwallis School on Hubbards Lane, Linton, Maidstone virtually every Sunday from 6pm. They fly all sorts from twister bell 47's to hummingbirds to Trex's. When the weather's good, there's also the chance to fly outside. There's lots of experienced guys who will setup and test your model for you. Drop into Modelworld at Notcutts Garden Centre and ask for Greasy. Tell him Tony suggested you see him and take your heli with.
