The Eclipse 7 seems like a good transmitter. It can use the channel modules which is a plus for frequency choice.
The Futabe 7ch uses only standard transmitter crystal where you need to change for frequency choice.

Price wise the Eclipse was much cheaper.

How good is Eclipse against the Futaba?

Overall the eclipse beats the futaba in value.

The futaba is so easy to program though. I think futaba really screwed up when they left out the campac and module. It speaks of true salesmanship. "Sell them less than they need, so they come back and buy what they really wanted".

I never have been able to program the Hitecs without the book. On my 9chp I don't ever have to look at the book.

Thanks for the reply Swatson

I have also gathered that the programming for the Hitec transmitters are not as easy as the Futabas.

What about the glitches they have? Understand the Optic 6 has a couple.

I've got an optic 6. I setup one heli in it and said Phutt and it's been in the box since. Works fine but I know I'd have to carry a manual with me to make any changes. Other people don't have any problems but I can't get the methology to make any sense. It is my 2nd hitec computer radio and I had hopes it'd make more sense than the other.

IMO if you are shopping for a new TX either buy a cheap one with the intention of buying again down the road when money is better or add some more $ and get a good mid level like the 9CHP Super.

Either way you should down load the manual and look through it to see if it makes sense to you. Lifes too short to struggle with changing settings.

With your suggestion, I bought my 9CHP Super for $260 and I love it. It will stay with me for a long time.

$260 seems quite a good deal. Where you got them? Only the Tx without module?

Hi balance_mind, I bought it from Deetee with a signle crystal and the campac. He now raised the price to $279. http://www.deeteeenterprises.com/NS.Futaba.9ca-ch.6a.php

Servocity sells it for $269.

The module is $99. I may want to upgrade it with the module later if I have more helis.
