View Full Version : How to Post a Picture

08-28-2006, 07:37 PM
There are many ways to post a picture in the forum but here are the two most common ones. If you follow these steps and you still cannot post your picture, create your post and send your picture to the Admin and let him know where you want the picture posted. He will be more than happy to post it for you as his time allows.

Uploading Picture From Your Computer
You can upload a picture directly from your computer by using the Manage Attachments function at the bottom of Text Box screen. Follow these steps:

1.You need to prepare you picture with a photo editing software such as Adobe or Microsoft Photoshop. There are free picture resizing application on the Internet. All you have to do is google with "resizing picture." It is important to keep the file as small as possible to save server space and bandwidth and to page load at the minimum for speed.

2.Crop the picture to only show what you want to show to illustrate your topic and resize your picture to less than 640 (wide) by 800 (tall) pixels

3.Save the picture on your computer as a jpg, gif or bmp. Remember where you save it.

4.Check to make sure that the file size is not more than 402.3 KB (note: there is difference between the file size (402.3 KB) and the size of the picture (640 by 800 pixels).

5.If your picture is bigger than the size or the file size specified above, you will not be able to post the picture. The error message will be displayed on the screen.

6.Create a post by using New Thread or Post Reply and at the bottom of the text box, click on the Manage Attachments. Note: you can not use Manage Attachements function with Quick Reply.

7.Then the Manage Attachments window is open

8.Click Browse and naevigate to your picture, select your picture and then click open.

9.Click Upload and click Close this Window

10.Then click Submit. If everything is correct, your picture will be displayed as a thumbnails like below.

By uploading the pictures from your computer to the forum, your pictures are stored in the HeliTown FORUM server.

Posting a Picture Using the Image URL

If your picture is on the Internet website such as www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com), your personal web site or one of RCHeliCopterTown galleries already, you do not have to upload the picture to the forum server. You can follow these steps below to post the picture from where it is now:

1.Copy the URL of your picture

2.Create your post either by Quick Reply, Post Reply or New Thread.

3. Click on the Insert Image icon on the text box.

4. Paste your picture URL in the Insert Image window. Make sure that you do not have http:// twice.

5. Click OK

6. You picture will be displayed automatically in the post full size like the 2nd example.

7. If you don’t know what is the picture URL, use the right click of your mouse and select properties. The URL is on the Properties Window.

8. Though the system can't detect the physical and file sizes of the image and apply the size limit requirements when you do this, the same picture size and file size rules are administered. the file size can not more than 402.3KB (note there is difference between the file size (402.3KB) and physical size of the picture (640 by 800 pixels). A Moderator or Admin will edit the post to only display the link instead of the picture if the picture is bigger than 640 by 800.

Note:
By posting the link, the picture is not in the forum server. If the picture is removed from the source, the picture in your post will be removed too.

While some people are happy to see their pictures posted in other websites or forums, some are not. It is important to always get permission before you post some one's picture to avoid any copy right issue. If you don’t have permission from the picture owner and the picture is not yours, it is the best practice to only post a link. Do not save the picture to your computer and upload it to the forum server.

Awe crap and fall back in it! It's in the "additional options" panel and it got closed up. OR IOW if you ain't real bright and accidentally click the arrow http://www.rchelicoptertown.com/forum/images/buttons/collapse_tcat.gif (http://www.rchelicoptertown.com/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=23090#top) In the right side of the blue bar that says "additional options"
You can't post a picture until you figure it out.
