Hi everyone. :D
I wanted to call this meeting because I'm new here and i want to get to know you guys better and try to figure who is flying what these days. I'm new to this hobby and i some guyson here that own 3 or a lot more as i'm sure you probably know the same great bunch of guys to. But anyway,...

My name is Jim, I'm coming from a Esky HB King v2 which is a great all around Helicopter and some of these guys are doing amazing things to them both in mods and the ability to fly the thing. I learned on the King v2. that I bought back at the end of May and flew it until Aug 31st. I received on the 25th and by the 30th that suck was built and was ready for it's test flight on the 31st. So i've only been flying my new Trex 450S CF for about 10 days and there was a couple or few days in there that i didnt fly. I love the 450. It handles really well and oh man,... it's a lot more powerful than the King v2 with a Esky 3900 motor in it. The 450 I have came with the 430X Motor not the XL version. No one seems to know whats the difference between the 430L and the 430X but boy,... For a female helicopter, She's Got Balls, BIG Ones. lol

As far as having any problems during the build of her i really didnt, The manual sucked and i thought that it could have been a little more details about the build of it. I had the links matching perfectly to the ones in the manual and once it was all said and done and i had her flying. I ended up having to raise the linkage to the Blades Grips and Elev by about 4 or 5 full turns each to increase the blade pitch, The way it is in the manual the Heli wouldnt even spin on the ground at all, there was so much down force, it wasnt going anywhere. Then once i got the pitch all figured out, While in a hover the Heli really wanted to move left and back so then I had to tweak the right side swash linkage down one full turn and the elev linkage up 1 full turn. I probably should have just turned the left side up one and called it a day hehe. Then with the DX-7 Radio i used the Sub Trims to adjust everything out so now i can get a complete no thumbs hover for about 4-5 seconds when i counted. The 450 Came with those 3K Carbon Blades, Their a little more heavy, I havent flown her with them yet, Has anyone flown the 450 with those Black & Yellow 3K Carbon Blades? How does she fly? I'm using those Black & White 325mm Pro Woodies right now. I can't hardly wait to fly the Carbons.

Here's my maiden video flight. This is like 2 or 3 flight in on the 450.

Chapter 3 didnt turn out all that well.
As you can see,... After less than 2 weeks on the Trex 450, I have a long way to go learning how to fly this Awesome Helicopter.

Let me know what you think.
Post something, let me know who you are and tell me a little or a lot about your Trex 450S CF. Any Tips or Tricks to help make this Trex 450 Fly Even Better.
Take it easy.

Hello Jim, If you really want to try the carbons (I'm thinking the 3K are the CRP and not the woven blades?) then go ahead and do it. They are only blades. Often people save blades until they have a crash and then put them on. That leaves them with nothing to compare to unless they buy the others again. If you go ahead and try the blades you have in hand you'll know what you like, before you need to decide what to buy. You can do back to back if the change is subtle.

Personally I tend to like a highish HS and shorter blades on most helis, don't know why but I just gravitate that way. The pro woodies work well for me on the moded X400 and I really can't tell much dif in blades other than lengths. Well excluding the FRP paint mixers you can tell them because they flutter and won't stay in track.

1 of trexs flies with SAB carbons n the other with Align 325 Pro blades, I would say go with the carbons 8-)

Unless yr a 3D flier I think the upgrades of FMH will not really show much improvement for you apart from looking nice.

Hi Jim,

I fly my stock 450xl with 315 wood blade, the 450SE with 325 carbon blade.

I have 12T in the stock 450SE motor, I used to fly with the 315 pro wood, the control is a little more responsive, the 325 carbon is a little more stable. I haven't try the 13T yet (actually I did, just hovering and circuits, not 3D), the 12T provide enough power for me to handle at this time.

Welcome, I think that untill you do hard 3D the blades won't matter that much. I had nice carbon blades in the little Rex 450 till the apple tree moved and hit the heli, I went onto pro wooden blades and it flies the same for me ( who don't and can't fly 3D ).

Sure carbon blades look cool etc etc but all my small helis have wooden blades, Align Pro 315 320 are value for money!

When it comes to my bigger helis, I have both glass and carbon on the 50 sizes, never flown with wood. For my fast foeward flight, circuits etc glass are fine, carbons look good !!

From somebody similar in skill level let me compliment you. You did a lot of flying with what appear to be the same parts!!! Your garage and mine look almost identical, and I don't understand why you didn't hit any of your shelves! hat's one of the first things (and last) I do. You asked about the carbon blades, let me tell you I think their the best bargain out there. he wood gets dinged up at the slightest strike and the fiberglass are heavy and brutal on tail strikes. For a little more the carbo takes a beating with less damage. I recently had a run in with a salt treated 4x4 holding my purple martin house and both the house and the blades emerged unharmed.
