This happened to Rick's a couple weeks ago and mine today.

The pinion slides down and the front gear strips. I have never had a pinion move in memory but this one did. When Rick's slipped I thought it was mechanics error and didn't bother to check mine. So today I got a chance to practice autos.
That pinion and shaft are like none I have ever seen with slots and setscrews 180 degrees apart. It's like the shaft collars we are seeing now. 180 apart is perfect to set up a rocking motion and the mechanical worlds norm is 90 degrees for more than one set screw. My normal method is to tighten one properly (as if it was the only one) and snug the other. I use blue loctite.
Any hoo thought I'd mention it for the others to check on. I have about 7 hrs on that one.
Good news is I got my order in and ready heli says it shipped so I should have parts by weds.
Steve (who seems to be having a bad heli month.)
