Guys.
Have any of you assembled 450XL and managed to get canopy to fit without cutting holes here and there for servo clearance :? I come from fixed wing where outside throws on servos are less demanding on power.I set my travels with EPA on my TX but this serves me no purpose with clearance of plastic!!! :(

Hi, don't cut the canopy !!!
What servos are you using? You will find they are too far forward and need fitting at the back of the fixing tabs.
See photo of the Align servo vs Hitec..... Also see the post 'T-rex 450xl CDE Question - Assembly'

Hi.
Many thanks.I am running Align servos fitted on outside of trays(as shown on assembly instructions).I have chopped canopy for now(my excuse is you can see its giblets moving around  ) and, being new to rotary wing, will inevitably have some down time for repairs :( when I will fit servos inside and fit new canopy.Do you know if a clear canopy is
available so you can paint internally ala rc car bodies?.

I have not seen clear ones, only clear scale bodies for the Rex.
Can't think why Align servos hit the canopy, maybe a photo of the setup will help me see whats wrong, if it is all as the book says, I have a 450 just up to fiting the servos so I can offer up a servo and soon see for you if my one is hitting!

Hi.
Just looking at a couple of pictures I was about to post showing my servo fitting and have realised I had a MAJOR head up A  :( E day.
I have fitted both servos upside down(output shaft at top).
Still, at least easy to corect. And strangely the canopy will now fit.Just a bit of wiring re-routing and linkage tweeks and I may get my first try this weekend(UK south west weather permiting).
I am now going to soothe my deflated ego with a couple of beers
Thanks for you patience.

That's what it is all about. Let me tell you what I did.....
The T-Rex 450 xl was built and I had a good test hover with training legs, came in side to see I had the blades on back to front !! But it did fly Ok, just better the next time round.
No matter how good we are we ALL make mistakes.

G-MRM,
You are absolutely right. We all make mistakes regardless and that reminded me of a stupit mistake I made when I first got into the hobby. It scared me to death. I'll create another thread in the Beginnger forum for us to share our mistakes as sometimes you don't know it until you learn it the hard way. So, if you know about it or hear it from someone who experienced it before you can cut down some of the things you have to learn the hard way.
