Hi there, this is my latest heli.... Hirobo Sceadu 50 EVO.
After starting with twin rotor electrics a year ago and moving up and up until a few months ago I built the T-Rex 600.
The 600 is a fine heli but being 50 size the back yard was too small. I joined a flying club in Essex and found I was the only one with electric.
About this time this forum was getting ready to open and I was asked to help. We needed someone with nitro power experience to help support and this is one of two nitro helis I now fly, just to help others you know !!!!!
That's my story and I am sticking with it !!

"Why do men never listen to women, flying in high winds results in the followig pictures."
Ok I did ask 'The Broker' to write this post but it was more to do with me flying left to right, doing a 180 deg anti clock turn and for a split second I could not work out where the heli was going and what side I was looking at. It is all so quick !
Never mind, a few parts will have it back in the air soon !

Unfortunately, I have learned we need to listen to them sometimes :)

I don't see too many bronken parts. I am sure you'll get it back in the air soon. Put some blings on to surprise the Broker :)

The Sceadu is flying again................ :D :D :D
After £88, approx $160 it is as good as new. As always, a lot of the money is for the blades and thinking of it it, is the blades that damage the rest of the head by stopping too fast !!!!!!!!!
That was my one time big crash and was my last flight last weekend. We also lost our flying field so this week we were on a new site and I was a bag of nervers flying after the crash and on new ground.
I did 3 tanks yesterday, and stopped flying early, things did not feel good. Today I test flew the Sceadu for 3 tanks and had two tanks on the Raven and had a good day and almost back to normal !!
Strange how a crash can put you back, but this may be good as you can get complacent. I think I have ben looking to hard at the skids when flying, this is Ok when passing in front as you can see if the heli is level, I have been told looking at the nose is better on turns, my problem last week !!

Flying in the wind is great fun and good practise. I think the most confusing part is when the gyro has about half the tail rotor pitch just to hold sideways in the wind and when asked to complete a turn, It takes longer. Tail To go upwind any way. Being used to the YAW rates I get an argument going in my head. It's nose in now. NO it isn't it hasn't even started to turn, says the side attached to the eyeballs. For some reason it seems harder to listen to the side attached to the eyeballs and easier to listen to the side that uses rhythm and time. Flying in the wind will teach you to listen to the eyeballs which are always right, but slower to process.
Rhythm doesn't work when the tail blasts around 1/2 turn and crawls around the up wind 1/2
See women don't get that as they seldom listen to any part.
You think?

I just have to answer this one
Everyone knows I am a rubbish flyer and I admit it freely, that day when Martin went to fly it was blowing very hard and I just had a premonition that something would go wrong. Everytime I get that feeling I back off, if its fine or windy or whatever.
We were at the club field flying and another member was on the flight line next to me and I said to Martin who was behind me that I felt there was an accident waiting to happen. Now the member beside me did not crash but the next guy up did bigtime.
Everyone of my crashes have been when I get the feeling I shouldnt fly but do, so now I stick to my guns and say no way, I have flown enough.
So what I was really saying to Martin was I feel bad about you flying today, what came out of my mouth was "its too windy"
And Steve you are a maniac you would fly if it was a hurricane blowing

I find the Sceadu not a cheap heli to repair, I know the blades will alway be lost, they are £30 pr ($60) for just glass ones plus the rest of the parts for the head. :(
The Raven has tail shaft drive, again if it takes a boom strike $$ to fix.
Once I get the Raptor 50V2 up and running that will be the one I fly the most and will try 'nose in' on as the parts come at a better price in the Uk.
I will start a post re 'nose in' and lets see how we are all getting on with it ! I am new to it and as such wecome feedback and as said lets all post where we are with this aspect of flying and maybe we can all gain from each other !!

I don't know what a "rubbish flyer" is but your flying skills don't really matter Szabo or not it's all about the fun and challenge.
Lisa can tell you that when I take a heli off the wall there IS an accident waiting to happen. Occasionally it is postponed. I have to give her one thing her premonitions are 100% accurate when she hears me say " Watch dis" Head shakes and she mutters "There is nothing good to come of this, you children stand WAY back."
I think you counter indicate yourself. If you never fly when you have foreboding then how can you only crash when you flew anyway? :P
Oh my if helis could run I'd never be able to catch one of mine! It's not really windy if you can set the heli down.

I have not been flying that long and don't go to the field every week, I fly in the garden if I feel like it, by saying I am a rubbish flyer I mean I dont put the effort into stick time that I should but it suits me. :)
My crashes have all been when I feel I dont want to fly for some reason, I may have done a tank or a battery then feel thats enough but someone will always say oh go on just one more tank or battery and I didnt like to contradict them at first because they know more than me but now I say "no way". If you feel good and confident its ok but its stressful to fly and I for one think you should only fly if you feel good or confident, if your'e tired or irritable forget it, its not worth the cost of the repairs.
Martins Scedau is a lovely heli and I don't like to see it beat up, but then I dont like to see any of them beat up, maybe I should confiscate it before it's too late it will be safe with me :D
Just a bit of gentle exercise then back to its hanger, perfect 8)
I am not into 3D, I like scale flying but if I were I prefer Marcus Kim to Alan Szabo

Your wife Lisa sounds like she could have some tales to tell about you

You ought to have a government warning on you Steve

That is great point Sue. That is what I am going to do. Even though my heli very small and cheap, but I don't want to crash it. Last weekend, I lost my control, I speed up too height almost hit my ceiling. I stopped and said it was enough for that day. Eddie encouraged me to fly some more, but I replied " no way "
I remember when Eddie just started his flying hobby, he would try and try until his heli crashed. The following week, he would come home late almost every day because he had to buy more new parts for his heli. I was so disappointed, but I didn't know what to say. Until, the credit card built arrived, Oh my God $......
I didn't know those many small pieces that he brought home cost a lot ! Anyway, I can't put the price on his happiness, so I rather stop buying my Diamond and Orchid. He He ....
