We have found our December 2006 picture of the month! It is Thanh Tran's picture of his beautiful swift with a camera on - without canopy. It was nominated by Ranger and then voted by members for December 2006 picture of the month.
Here is what Thanh said about his Swift when asked, "The Swift is basically stock and has almost standard popular electronics gears on it. I use Spektrum DX6 receiver with my HiTech-DX6 hybrid TX It has 3 HS475HB servors for cylic control. A digital HS6965HB servo for the tail. Gyro is a GY401. A medusa 3A bec. Power system of this heli is a Neu 1907 1.5 motor (later upgraded to a Neu 1910 1.5). Currently I'm flying this with a nu 1910 1.5 with 11 tooth pinion. Castle Creation HV45 ESC is used. I'm flying with 9S A123 battery cells at this time. The power is great and the cost of battery pack is very affordable. And of course, I have my lipo alarm on it - just for the look as with A123 cells, cut off or landing early is not mandatory :). This heli flies also well with 7S emolies and flies ok with 6S emolies without changing anything. The heli feels more gentle and somewhat has longer flying time, probably due to low headspeed and not doing crazy things with it."
Besides building and flying RC helicopter (of course and his full time job) Thanh has invented Li Po alarm and strobe lights which are known as Liglow. Many rc helicopter pilots including me admire his Li Po alarm and strobe lights. They are not only functional but also very eye-catching!
