I need an advice from somebody who was upgrading HBK2 to brushless motor. I am bit lost how and where to put new ESC. It's design is a bit strange, so when I put it as far to the fornt as I could I got something weird looking and I can't even put canopy back. (see attached pictures)

Is your RX at the back? I think that is the best place as it is far from the RX. But instead of placing it across the frame, try to do place it parelel to the frame. That is how I am going to place mine. I am meeting with estarter today I'll check to see how he placed his.

How do you like the Esky motor? What is your ESC? Is it also Esky? Did you have problem fitting it? I talk to David at Heli Direct he recommended JGF 400DH motor with a 25A to 35A ESC. I already have a JGF 400DH so I'll upgrade mine with 400DH.

I put my esc in pretty much the same place and orientation. I just trimmed the canopy a little bit to fit.

eddiemoth: So far it seems to be much better motor than brushed (which gave up after 10 battery packs) but so far I only burned one or two batteries. I'll report later. However I am not sure if this is problem of ESC or brushless motor in general but it' not able to run at vry slow speed. I mean when you gently increase throtle you see nothing up til maybe third or fourth "click" and than suddenly motor starts spinning which usuallu causes heli to rotate a bit.

Ranger: Pobably I will have to do the same :x If only the lead connecting ESC and RX is bit longer...

Are still with the stock Radio or a programmable radio? If you are using a programmable radio, set the throttle curve to the speed you like to start the heli. It might be also the "Soft Start" function of the ESC.

I saw estarter attached the ESC to the side of the frame next to the battery. That is another option.

I have a JGF 400DH on my MX400 which I can use on my King II to see how it flies. My stock motor is pretty much burned after a several flights.

I am still with the stock radio, so not many option to change anything :) I don't want to upgrade until I have the heli under control. In case I find out that I am hopeless and I have to give up my new hobby I can say - stock TX wasn't that expensive ;)

Has estarter some prictures of his ESC position?

Nas,
That is normal ( the rotor spin up) It just takes some ommph to get that motor spinning. Just expect the throttleup to happen like that for now.

Oh, btw, I was looking at my king, and I noticed that I installed the esc just BEHIND the front landing skid, not in front. That will help!

I have moved mine behind front landing skid too. Now I can fit the canopy, but wires are still weird looking.:(
