I had my cp2 for 3 weeks now with around 40+ flights mostly hover. I have fixed the sticky collective already and some other mods. It has been working perfectly, but lately I am experiencing low power, my cp2 will only lift a few centimeters(2-3) off the ground then the red light of the 4 in 1 lights up and the heli losses some more power then goes down.
I'm sure my pitch setting are correct, I break in my motor, I balance my batteries every charge using imax-b6. What seems to be the problem here? Is the battery or the motor? or something else?
What do you think??? help me. Thanks

The red LED indicates 100% 4in1 throttle is being reached (which is actually a ~36% endpoint on other Tx's).
- May be the battery is damaged and the voltage is drastically sagging under load.
- The motor comm is coked up with carbon brush deposits, partially shorting at the motor causing loss of power, WD40 can dissolve.
- Sometimes the bottom motor shaft axel bearing also can clog up with carbon brush deposits, motor becomes stiffer to turn.
- Motor has been cooked, burnt windings or weakened magnets.
- Gear mesh too tight.

How do I check If my battery is damaged?
I just recently cleaned my motor, gear mesh is correct.
thanks

Do you have a volt meter? With more than 40 flights on it, I would replace the motor. If it is still the same problem, I then would look into the battery. If you don't have a volt meeter, bring it to your LHS and ask them to check it for you. But it is more than likely that they'll talk you into buying a new pack of battery.
So if I were you, I would buy a new motor to test it. If they your motor is still OK, you'll still need it anyway in the future and it does not hurt to get more spared motors and battery packs handy.

Yes I have a volt meter, I checked the voltage of each cell and it reads 4.2~4.19 volts/cell after full charge. But does the voltage really tell that the battery is in good condition?
Any tips on how to check if the battery is still good?

I time my battery. If it is abnormally short in flight than normal and I have too many flights on it, I assume it is not holding charge any more and leave it alone. For your heli since you have 40 flights on it, you can't time the battery because the motor is more likely the problem than the battery. My two cents.

Thanks for your replies! I found the problem, the main motor's carbon brush is really worn out!

Hi borgia, you may want to get a couple of them as they worn out with 40 to 50 flights. Or you can upgrade it to brushless. However, if I were you, I would keep Esky HB CP2 as it is for practising and buy a new heli with drive belt like TRex450. If you want to start with something cheaper, check with Esky King II or Blade 400. You'll know how stable these helis are compared to your Esky HB CP2.

Yep, thats what I'm thinking, I'll just keep the cp2 stock, its a nice little heli and cheap to fix, its my first heli by the way. Im thinking of upgrading to belt cp once I master to hover in all orientations.
Thanks for your advice Eddiemoth!
