My brother has a walkera gyro on his Raptor 30 v1. Would a Futaba 401 gyro make a big difference, would it be easier to fly?? It flies ok now but would there be a NOTICABLE differnce.
Would you have to get a digital servo for the 401 gyro or can you just use a non digital.
thanks, Greg

IMO yes and I doubt anyone would tell you a walkera gyro is as good as a GY401.

If you are just hovering it probably wouldn't be a big difference. It always amazes me when people use a cheap gyro and later blames a 200$ crash on it. IE "there i was turning downwind and the heli started sinking! so I throwed the coal to her and the tail swung around like it always does but this time the wind caught it. I got disoriented full nose in and rolled into the ground"

I firmly believe that you are gonna have at least a gy401 on the heli eventually why wait. You could also get a DS760, GY611, 6100T, G770, SL720, etc etc. Look on ebay and get a good deal on an older high end gyro maybe? csm 400, 420, GY501, G720 etc.

You don't have to have a digi on a GY401 it and many others have a Dig/An switch (some of the others don't).

When I got into flying gas 2006 I moved from electric to gas and my flying partner bought his raptor 50 V2 from the local hobby shop that came equiped with a Walkera gyro. It had no hold at all on the tail and replaced by another new Walkera Gyro. It never worked well and then he stuck on what I am still flying with over a year later. The JR 410T Gyro which I know is an old model now but it sure does the job. I am not doubting the model of the Walkera Gyro for at all but experience says the walkera Gyro's are not made for gas.
