Hey, my name is Rick, I'm a rc heli buff, if you will, I have 1 to my name, a HBKII which I am trying to upgrade and eventually hover etc. I have put many hrs. to study and continue to because I feel again this is not just a hobby it's a lifestyle!
For me it's a dream come true, since all the choppers I saw has a younger manlolMy dream is to become a scale builder, so heres my plea, I will take any tired large gas job, and do my best to make it grace the skies, I will say this much! I cannot afford a big Heli flat out, wife think's it's a toy well yeah she handles the check book...I know, but it has it's good points my last big venture Vision trucking Saint Paul...Ok you get the point.
So, if you can donate and write it off, or have a shop and need free advertising by word of mouth, I just want a big bird to extend my learning curve, I will in turn help others because I see this has a group of persons who's heads are not up in the air, but trying to look out for one another, pls. help an old vet, and yeah, I'm still a trucker but with budget cuts & my now working in the city many years now it's back to shoveling asphalt crap cushy days seem like a past dream! lol

You can get started for pretty reasonable price with patience and ebay. I've seen plenty of Raptor frames for < $200.

Hey Rick,
my name is Roy and I am an old vet too!
I saw your album, and in 1977 I was a Cpl stationed in Mainz, Germany.
I have a scale helicopter which flies well, but the fuselage needs to be fixed up a bit or you could fly it as is and in the air it looks real good.
It is a 30 size Augusta 109 with Century Hawk mechanics and painted in camouflage colors. I have new landing gear on it and also have new fins for the tail that need to be installed and painted to match.
Like I said, It flies nice, and I last flew it about 9 months ago.
you would only have to put a receiver in it and I imagine you already have a TX.
I would post a picture but I am new to this site and learning how to navigate through it still.
I am willing to send this to you FREE to get you started, and all I ask is that in the future you pass on a favor to someone else.
let me know.

Rick has emailed me and it seems he forgot his password :)
I travel a lot in my job and am leaving for Florida tomorrow for a few days. I will get this thing packaged best I can to avoid any damage and get it sent off to him within a week.
I think I got the picture attached to this message. this is a pic from a test flight after I put the fuselage on the Hawk. Like I said before, it flies really nice and teh fuselage just needs some minor fixing up or it can be left that way and just have fun with it.

I Can't say how much this means to me, I have always love flight, just never had the cash to continue real flight school with a Kind Auto body shop Teach from Dunbar High sch. early 70s "Mr. Knox" an old WWII Vet and heck of a body man.
well one thing I will share knowledge and machinery -pass on the kindness, cause well we can't take it with us anyhows.
IN retrospect I miss the days when I could stand on the Lakefrnt of Chicago, or view out of my window later years while stationed in Germany and see the real Heli pilots do there thing, esp night maneovers. that was in Montabouer Germany.
Hope one day to get back dwn to Sweet home Alabama! lol my ol-Man grew up there, has a cabin somewhere there, may'be I get some vaction time one day and catch him on his travels back home.
Like I said before, here on this site, and i must be honest several others where passion for machinery is shared Man race plays no role it's the Passion that motivates, I Hope and pray that more and more people will understand that it's Cool ta care!8-)
Roy, your the Man! like that Stang ya got in the garage shot, should seen the 56 Chevy I had that was my baby! lol

Man I saw your Pic's at the Scale Heli site, Wow, you had a cool job in the Military, I miss the "Old Military service days" yeah we had good and bad days, but you know those friendships are never forgotten, always family.
I did find some great pics of the 109, a beautiful bird indeed, thank's so much for giving me a chance to be a part of a dream, one which i never thought would happen Man you are a Blessing, I had one question, did your unit train with the German avaition groups there? Finally, i had a old friend form those days a brother from Puerto Rico named Miguel, we were both at 1/7th FA Det. montabouer Germany, Primarily Special security for NATO USAER group Lance Missile. Anyway, this guy was a great running bud, and friend always wanted me to travel and visit His home, i never forgot that either too bad many of us never had the resources to do just that!
I'm proud to have served, and just has you requested, a friend of mine at work likes helis has a smaller ship than the HBKII so I'll let him have the HBKII also it will give me a chance not only to focus on a much larger and different unit, but helping another Cat learn and enjoy a "Sport" which used to only be something those with endless wallets or lots of Machinery/Aviation skills could enjoy!
Was that Bell Ranger you had o-seas a 90 size?

Hey Rick,
well, I am back home and trying to catch up on things.
I will get this thing packaged one day this week and in the mail. I have to find a big enough box.
Yea, while stationed at Fort Hood I was a crewmember on OH58/Jet Rangers. They were MP helicopters with a million candlepower spotlight on them.
The Jet Ranger was a Kavan which I sold a few years ago. Should have never done it!!!! Now everyone wants one!
As for Puerto Rico, I got there almost every month for work stuff. I could tell you for what but then I'd have to kill you :p
I am changing my home email address and updating it in my profile tonight. I got tired of dial up internet from Bellsouth, so I went with my local cable company for modem cable. It's like night and day!!
talk to you soon

heli143 - congrats on joining the 21st century with broadband internet. It's amazing what a difference it is. I know from experience how bad dailup is.
Back to topic. The jet ranger is a nice looking bird.
On to army stuff - I'm not a vet, but my uncle was in the army and was stationed over in Germany for a number of years and flew Cobra Attack Helicopters in the first gulf war. He's since retired and living in georgia. I don't know where in germany he was stationed though.

Love that line, "I gave up the smokes!" so I hope that i may have some years ahead to live learn and share this hobbie and addition to my life which is perhaps also a means to show the Young folk that there are so many things in this world to experience, and with the right motivation perhaps, just perhaps the "Hood" is not the end all!

Hey basic and Rick,
thanks for the good comments.
Yea, Germany is awsome! I spent almost ten years over there.
My son is an MP at Ramstein AFB now. he spent three tours in Iraq so they gave him his assignment of choice. Scine he almost grew up in Germany, it was the obvious choice.
I am taking Thursday off to take care of some personal chores and will mail the Augusta out then. I will let you know when it is in their hands.
