I flew one of my x400s for the 1st time in a while. I think it's upset about all the flight hours the Coronas are getting.
This morning it did well but I knew the wind was a bit high for me and it until I get more used to it so I went back in at 2 packs.
Gorgeous evening and I take it out again. Blades out of track. A bearing noise I didn't notice this morning (on spin down). The tail would suddenly bztt bzzzt bzzzt out about 45 degrees and back again a couple times and then stay out 90 when it ended, and lock there like it was the new zero. Spent the time I should have been flying messing with it.
When I got it in the air again (too dark really) it did the tail surge again and the lipo alarm got about 3 beeps in before the esc cut out and I got to auto in from about 10'. The alarm was set pretty much as a 2 min warning.
I think it is determined to crash and make me put the last little bit of bling on it. Fooled it and it came home in one piece.
Only real changes since prior flights are the motor. It gave up the mega 16-15-3 for a corona and got a temp 420lf 3200 kv. That motor ran fine on my stock corona and barely got room temp on todays wimpy flights.
A couple months ago the apex packs I used were new now they are pretty "soft" with about 150 cycles on them, though I only was doing scale like easy flight so I doubt that was a problem.
The tail thing may be needing another dose of silcone spray.
Well venting is over, tommorow is a new day. Chances are good that I compile a few new curses, that'll fix it.
Old components
GY-401 with 9650, on a micro heli tail.
