Just broke one of them little, fragile yellow horizontal fins mounted on the tail truss of my Hirobo XRB SR. So I broke off the other one too. Now the little guy seems a little nose heavy and a tad more responsive to cyclic controls. Am I imaging things or do those fins actually help in stablising this little heli?

Nope, they are decorative only. Being such a light weight heli, taking the tabs off will mean you should rebalance the heli before the next flight. You will probably find that youwill have the battery slightly further aft than it was before.

With these helis you can remove the canopy and the tail altogether, rebalance and the heli will fly just fine. Those parts mainly help with the visuals, and make it easy to see where the front of the heli is pointing.

Thanks. mate for your note. Save me from walking to the LHS to get a new tail truss and of course the $$$. Mmm, but it doesn't look quite as appealing without those fins though.. :-)

clai,
If you like, you can create your own horizontal or veritical fins by cutting a color clear plastic sheet and stick it with clear scott tape or CA. You can find these plastic sheets at your LHS and they are very cheap. But like Ozzyeureka said these are for look only and adding these fins (though not much) will add more weight to your heli.
