The Hirobo XRB Sky-Robo Shuttle is now available in the Japanese Domestic Market as tungnguyen pointed out in this thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=578713

Reading that got me really excited about this new product and led me to do a little research to see if it will be coming state side anytime soon. Yesterday, I emailed Model Rectifier Corp, the importer/distributer for Hirobo products in the US, asking if we will be seeing the XRB SR Shuttle anytime soon. When I got to work this morning the following email was waiting in my inbox:

"Hi Ryan,

Yes it will be, around end of November/beg December is when we expect them. Our full set will be 279.00 suggested selling price. We will only have the full set with TX.

Jeff
MRC"

This is good news because if you look at Hirobo's Japanese site and covert the Yen price they have listed, it calculates to approximately $400 USD. But it looks like we will get it much cheaper in the US
Also, digging deaper, I found that the XRB SR Shuttle is specified as the same AUW as the original XRB SR Lama at 195g.

I know what I'm getting myself for Christmas

Looks good but not sure if it will fly with that price. Can't wait to hear your review!

I agree, will be too much for most who will likely go for the BCX2 instead.
I for one would rather pay a little extra for a quality machine... One you don't have to cut holes in to keep the electronics cool or adjust every single flight to correct yaw.

what's with the little fake tail rotor?

Likely just for show as it was on the original XRB Lama.

I have not seen any coaxial heli has a functional tail rotor as it is not needed.

Theses helis are made to look like coventional helis so they will appeal to the total beginners, parents buying one for their kids and the basically ignorant. The tail rotor is just there for looks and at this end of the market, it has to look like what people expect it to look like, even if it is technically wrong or not required. Simple 'marketing 101' stuff.

Hmmm, I would hardly call that a prototypical tail rotor, it is either there to control pitch or basically to add weight to balance the fore /aft axis.
Going by the basic rotor head design, I would guess it is a pitch control.
But a torque correcting/counterbalancing tail rotor it aint.

But functional- yah I guess so, just not in the conventional sense. I stick by what I wrote further up though.
Ron.

Oxxyeureka,
I want to qualify what I said "functional". I did not mean anything more than just having a motor and can be barely controlled by the rudder stick on the radio. The motor is soooo tiny. There is no pitch or anything fancy like the tail rotor of Trex450, MX400 etc. I have one and it is not really do anything than just there for look. You are still right.
