I finally got to go to a heli funfly, To say the least it was interesting and I had some good fun. My buddy Steve talked me into going with a very slight twist of my arm lol The ride to MD was interesting to say the least, Steve kept on hearing voices and followed their directions which lead to some strange short cuts. lol In all the weekend was nice got some good flying in and was able to see some real nice scale heli's along with a nice long talk to the hirobo rep :D
I did find it strange that he kept a close eye on me as i checked out the scale ch-47  Did manage to break another main gear on my swift coast guard heli  Me and gears I don't understand it :? The fist night there I was stunned by the night flying talk about guts ! no way I could do such a thing and have my heli in one piece after the flight lol In all it was OK but not what I expected Steve assured me that it was a small even and the next funfly will be extremely more interesting.

I wasn't overly impressed with it. It seemed the club was too inflexible on some of their day to day rules and should have relaxed them a little. IE parking, I mean when you are expecting 10X the daily number you need to allow parking where it isn't normally allowed. OTOH there was a team in black Tees that where fueling at a pilot box and not being run off. All in all it was a good event but it was bigger than the field.

see what I mean. We arrived Fri. night and setup just to the left of the blue easy up on the left. They came by in the AM and made us move the truck. At least we got to offload the gear in place before moving the truck for no apparent reason. They said they were going to shootdown a heli with paint balls in this area which seemed decidedly unsafe to me. Any how it'd been much better over the dirt at the edge of the field and not have everyone blocked in.

I'm pretty sure that people came in and saw this and just went home. Another bunch from Debbie's came in and managed to squeeze into a recently vacated spot behind the vendors.

Here's a view down the right side of the flight line. They gave plenty of separation between the pits and the pilot boxes. Nicely done and I felt safe working/lounging in the pits. The pilot boxes were an adequate distance apart and IMO a good compromise between distance and number of pilots (5) to keep the wait times down. Don felt they were a little close which was born out by the lines of pilots waiting to use the boxes on either end which offered more room.

Hirobo and some of their offerings. MRC is the US distributer for Hirobo.

Don was like a kid in a candy store at the Hirobo table. He was lusting after pretty much the entire collection. I think I overheard the kid say "stand back sir, you are drooling on the helis". Well, at least I don't think he was talking to me.

This Jetcat was seen flying around.

There were some scalers around. They had us enter ours in the competition (bottom picture 3 on left sorry Don but I cut off the lhama's tail).

All in all it was a great time and I hope to go back next year. We packed out Sat after the raffle as the weather was going south quick. I had pretty much bought my fuel and looked at the vendors so I was ready. I did meet a new vendor from Ct (http://www.rchobbiesandmore.com/). Seemed the sort who would be good to work with he said his website isn't much right now but he has a web guy working on it.

Nice pics Steve. I hope to go to any event eventually. Still a virgin.
