How to the links work?

I recently put a bunch of links out on other website / emails to posts I have here @ rchelicoptertown.com.

I going back and checking (because of reply's to the links) and now they either:
A. Point somewhere else because the links change depending on content

or

B. I pasted the wrong link


So, my question is, if you want to put a link to a page in a forum somewhere else, can you just copy the url and paste that?

(e.g. http://www.rchelicoptertown.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2870&page=8)

Or do you have to specifically use the "Thread Tools"->"Email This Page" and copy that url in the email?
(e.g. http://www.rchelicoptertown.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2870&referrerid=1554)

I've always just pasted the URL. Sometimes when you use a search to find the thread the search expires leaving a broken link. If that's the case just click the # at the top left (#2 in this reply) and it will go to single message mode. That's also handy to point out a single RE in a long thread.

weird, I must have just copied the wrong link, although I don't remember for sure if I was even on that thread.....


Oh well, as long as the url is ~supposed~ to work, I'll spend a little more time ensuring I have the right one in the clipboard!
