The Walkera #4 heli sets come with a serial cable supposedly so you can use it with FMS. As this TX is the same as the Venom 'sea rescue' unit, I have tried both of my heli TXs with teh cable , but neither work.
So if any one knows what the pinouts should be, please let me know .

Ozzy this might help

Also you might want tho check your puters device manager section to see if the serial port is even active , also right click the port and go into propertied to see if you have a resource conflict also if you have an old serial mouse kicking around plug it in , if you have no serial port active you might need to go into the system bios and change the irq setting for that port...good luck...Sleepster...=]
Also there is some compatability info here.. http://www.milehighwings.com/index.htm

Hmmm, serial port is working- I am using it via an old iPaq to type this!
Opening up a TX to see if it looks like one of those PCA's kills any warranty, but no one really gives a warranty with aheli any way. So I checked, teh PCA should work, if teh TX does not have one of the firmware revs that dont work.
Which means, - I am still stuck with a cable and a pair of TXs that do not work with FMS.
So-dont buy a Walkera #4 for the FMS play value.

Try giving this a look.

I had mine working with a half of a serial cable and 1/2 Svideo cable joined in the middle. I think the pinout is just slightly wrong in the document but I don't remember details. I can meter mine if you need. I'm pretty sure I documented mine somewhere but I can't find the file right now. Hopefully your cable is fine and it's just a matter of getting ppjoy setup correctly.
I got the TX in a lot I bought with no cable. The esky sim controller is the play though no muss and no fuss and no battery. The sticks are much better to boot. Not as much "cam" in the middle.
I got tired of messing with batteries and bought the esky usb TX. for 30$ from www.bpproducts.com .

Hmmm, well, we can give it a try. I'll give it a go and see what happens. But that Esky USB TX sort of defeats the idea of the cable being in with the #4's RTF kit !

Thank you to Steve, the PPJoy software was the missing bit I needed. With PPjoy loaded and configured , FMS works well. The joystick sensitivity is a fair bit higher than the real helicopter, but that is a good thing.
I also had to change my TX over to mode 1, which is the more common mode here in Australia. No big deal to do, but a pain in that the TX does not have a simple mode switch to do the change over.

LOL I had to change my 1st Esky TX from Mode 1, so I know what you went through.
Glad it worked out. In FMS if you don't set the wind you can pretty much get it in a hover and go eat supper and it'll still be hovering when you get done.
Another good inexpensive sim is clearview I think it's about 50$ with a downloadable demo you can activate. Very much worth it. Warning don't DL it until you have some time to try it because the demo time is very short. Don't walk of and leave it running because I seem to recal it gives you like 1 hr of demo and then dies. I played with it for a couple mins and then left it on screen, came back and the demo had expired. So I bought it.
