I'm so sorry to hear about that! I'd likely bitten off the other dog owners ear. Thankfully it was just an ear!
About 10 years ago I thought I was gonna have to cut a pitbulls head off and hand it to the dingbat owner. It jumped out of the womans jeep window where it had been barking and growling at grade schoolers walking by on the way home from school (right at the corner of the school). I was meeting my son at the corner and the dingbat was laughing the whole time. It jumped out the window and ran up on my weimaraner then had second thoughts. Mine was on a leash. While they were staring each other I told the elbow that if they get into it I'd hand her her dogs head. Suddenly she stopped laughing and gathered her smallish adult pitbull. Funny that kind of action, I was legally carrying my S&W airweight and an SOG folder. Never showed either but I guess she wasn't too dingy to realize true honesty when she heard it.
Sometimes I think people should be tested before they can care for a dog or a kid.

Steve, the Weimaraner is a fine looking dog. Glad nothing too bad came of your meeting with the pitbull.
It's a small part of his large ear that is now missing but lots of blood comes from it :(
It had just aout stoped in the vets when he had a big shake of the head and blood was then seen everywhere.
That will be a problem for a while to come I recon !

Sorry to hear you're pup is under the weather. I know that was a stressful event for all involved. He sure looks pitiful :(, with that, why did you do this to me look.
We lost our Dalmatian (Sparky) last year and I remember that look all to well. Our pets are members of the family just like our children. Heck, I hate to admit it but I was more upset loosing Sparky, than I was for distant family members.
I know that's bad ain't it!
Hope he feels better soon and there are no other complications.

I'm a Chihuahua person. My wife is a K-9 Police Sergeant. She handles a Bloodhound and has a boarder collie. I put dogs before helicopters any day. I'm sad for you and your dog. Dogs are way too good for some people.

Oh man the "Elizabethan Collar" thing? Poor dog. poor Sue and Martin! It is just rough on the heart to see the poor creature navigating under that constraint. Like the sutures it's temporary though. Fortunately they can still eat milk bones :).
