Hey all,
Didn't know if this was the appropriate place to post this request, so I'll give it a go and see.
I need a gear for an arcade toy crane.
The gear is similar to things I've seen in helicopters.
It has a small gear like what goes on electric motors, and that is attached to another larger gear that has helical teeth.
Anyone know of a manufacturer that might be able to help?

Not sure this will help but I had some luck with these guys making me a gear for a motorized bed. http://www.rushgears.com/
This cracks me up every time I see it; Trex250 <waiting for first repair, 25+ flights>:D:D

ya, still sitting there. Got all parts and such. Now that there is the SE and new gyro and stuff, it might be a good time to get her back up.
Thanks for the tip.

Sorry I can't help but is this business or pleasure. The reason I ask is I always wanted to fix up a pin-ball machine. Love that kind of stuff

Business....
The actual manufacture of the coin op / arcade crane is no longer around, and neither is the manufacturer of this gear.
Got any parts laying around BobinNJ?

I'd just buy the stock from SDP-SI.com and mate them up to make the gear. Or you could buy the stock and have a local machine shop put the 2 pieces together.

I went back to look and it's not easy to find it's under "Pinion wire & spur gear stocks" . It'd be the way to go if he might need more in the future. Probably abouy 70$ will get him the material for a dozen or so made of steel. there'd still be the machining time / expense.
It'd be about the same price to buy the separate plain hub Spur and pinion to machine into the same configuration as the sample.
1st thing to do would be to identify exactly what he needs. http://www.sdp-si.com/web/html/reference_library.htm should be very helpful if just a little painful for a first timer. :D Prepare to learn more about gears than ever thought possible since just the identification will require a lot of learning.
There are often other sources for the same gears. Most makers of equipment used off the shelf parts where possible. That's information I don't have though...probably some forums on arcade machines to check.
