I collect heli parts as and when I see them (at the correct price) so when I was offered a cheap air frame, most of the parts were 'in stock' to build her up.

This helps spread the cost but not the same as when you open the 'new heli kit' with all those new parts in little bags!!

I have been doing odd jobs on the other nitros I fly but would like to give this one a test flight soon, i will ask 'The Broker' to have the camera ready !!

NOTE ADDED
After the Raven problems over the weekend this project had to wait, more pics will be added soon !

The first test on the Saturday was a no go..... I could not get it to start, infact, I could not get it to turn over !!

That weekend dropped engine out to find the one way bearing in the clutch was dry and not giving drive in any direction !!

Grease is the word as in the song !

So the next weekend we were all set after starting and testing the engine in the garden, very wise thing to do !!

Just got her into the very first hover and bang, tail let go and I landed fast !

After a good look and seeing Brokers video frame by frame, one tail blade broke off the hub. The rest was damage due to an out of balance tail spinning at 5 times the head speed = 800 rpm approx.

This tail problem turns out to be a known fault. The hub uses two set screws that hold the ali hub to the tail shaft and then nylocks are used on these hold the tail grips and bearings on.

T Tiger have now made a new S Steel hub where the blade holder bolts are all part of the hub, you just put on the nylocks. See below and if you fly a Raptor 50 or 90 buy one of these !!

Had a nice full flying day this Easter holiday. Did a few tanks with the V2 and it flies well.

Weather just right for a long weekend !!

Things were going well today untill the engine stops dead at 40 feet up !!

Auto down worked well, glad I practice them, Don't think this T Tiger Pro 50 will be used again !!

Note the broken ring, this may have started the problem..........

Update to the Raptor V2.

After a lot of flights over the past 8 months, last weekend the tail started twitching bad, it would swing out 90deg then come back !!

After a few of these I noticed that if you moved the battery connector all power was lost !

Both connectors were replaced and the heli was tested yesterday. looked good to start with but it did not take long for the tail to be lost letting the heli pyro till I landed it! Walking up to it i could see the tail servo was not moving but I had control of all other servos....

Back at home it turns out the S9254 tail servo just stops after working for a few mins. Give the arm a push and starts working again but not for long !

Replaced servo and ready for another test but looks like I found it this time !:)

Martin. I almost lost my mate's A109A when the battery lead failed. The saving grace was the fact the model was about to touch down. I lost all radio and we had to sit and wait for the model to run out of fuel. The load on the head was too much for the servos and it oscillated at just under hover throttle, thankfully. Unfortunately as the engine leaned out the HS picked up and the model flipped onto its side. Surprisingly there was little damage. This was due to the fact the main blades were fibre glass and they broke up as they hit the ground. As soon as the engine died, the radio came back. Fiddling with the power lead from the switch replicated the problem.

There's been a lot of discussion over the 9254's on RR. Seems to be a common problem with them.

Well Ant, last week when I moved the connector that the battery connects to the H Duty switch, all power was lost for a split second... So Saturday I bought servo crips and the crimp tool and replaced the plug and socket. My testing was short yesterday thinking I found the problem but so glad it only came back while hovering after some FF . I was windy so that made the gyro/servo work harder and the faulty motor soon showed up. Back at home i can make it do it within a few mins ! 100% it is the motor. Take the gears out move the pot to make it spin a while reset pot to stop motor and when it hunts it will stop and won't restart without turning the motor my hand !

It's all down to luck at times with this gear we use !

In rebuilding my tail, I found this also. And replaced with the new part you mentioned. Works great, and now I can visually check the set screws.
