View Full Version : SIM stick interaction

I'm new. I have 3 different SIM's and my USB controller (E-sky) seems to always cause the heli to climb when I add cyclic with the right stick. I have to pull the throttle down quickly to compensate. I can see this happening with forward velocity, translational lift would cause a climb, but before motion occurs the heli begins to quickly climb. Ya think maybe my controller is no good? Its nearly impossible to hover with this thing. I can hover my Blade msr okay, but in FMS, Helisimrc, Clearview, no matter what heli I choose its impossible. In Clearview, it will randomly climb or move sideways in a random direction (no wind). Not slow, but pretty fast. I'm beginning to suspect my controller may be defective. :(

sounds like it. or some software mixing....

Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get a B400 with a DX-6 transmitter and never look back?
I've been thinking there is something wrong with my reflexes or something, but after testing I can see its my hardware. In calibration of the controller I see that moving the cyclic stick does vary the throttle quite a bit. Oh well. It was cheap! get what you pay for I guess.

I've used the esky tx and the esky usb tx both work wonderfully. you have to map the stick movements to the proper function for your SIM. I'd guess your r stick functions are changing pitch. Most SIMs have a mixer set up so you can assign each channel. Assuming mode 2 you want the increasing (pushing away) of the left stick to increase both throttle and pitch. If this is helpful let me know if you need more I have clearview loaded on another boot drive and will gladly help you from there. I haven't gotten it setup on this new build (harddrive) yet. When you look at the mixes moving the R stick shouldn't move either the pitch or the throttle.

your on the right track with testing the Tx with calibration.
There may still be a 'mix' going on on the Tx? Look for dip switches or a manual on that one. Could still work if you can find the settings for it.....
If your going to bite the bullet, bite on RealFlight 5.5 that comes with a Tx. That Tx will work for your other sims.

Right thanks Mt. That's the word I couldn't remember "calibration".

I have the mapping right, Steve, its just that randomly when I move the right stick, the collective jumps to another level. That makes hovering really difficult. I wonder if my PC usb port may not have enough current capacity?
That could cause strange things to happen for sure.
Yeah, I may have to go wild and get a better SIM. Gee, I had my wife convinced this was an inexpensive hobby! I'll be in trouble now. lol

Good luck with that one......
advice: Buy new furniture. They seem to notice the toys you bring in the door less when their attention is on something else......
