I was putzing around today just flying for fun, and it occurred to me again that I really should keep a flight log. In the past I start and next thing I know I give up. I was thinking maybe it'd be nice for members to keep flight logs on forum. You could enter as much or as little info as you need or want and just reply to it as you go.
For instance if you want to know how many cycles you have on a pack you could search and count, or keep a running tally in the thread. Tanks on a gallon? same.
Others can look in and see what you are upto, so there might be that little extra nudge to spin it up and go fly.
It'd be a good place for beginners without much experience to contribute, to get on board and let everyone get to know them a little better. There is a point where you have no real questions, and don't feel competent enough to offer answers, so lurking is the only option.
I don't know of any other forum doing this so there may be a compelling reason not to? Also would starting a topic and let everyone start their own thread such as "swatson144's flight logs" and just keep replying as you progress? Some other better method?
What do you think?

I am in for sure.... As you said Steve, could well give a nudge to some that need more stick time.
Here in the UK winter is with us remember
(but we still have the indoor ones!)
Sue at one time said I was very sad when I noted down what battery was used and the charge that was put back into it !! :D :D

I like the idea! I will start one too though I know mine is not going to be impressive. I am getting a few more li po packs to prep for next year. I should be able to get my new Trex450 S to fly by then and I am also going to convert my MX400 to CCPM. Mine might be more like a flight jurnal so I know if I don't get out and fly for a week. Should we do it in one thread together or we do it individually?

I'd think that individually would be most useful. So when you wanted to find out how long it's been since your last crash you could just search the thread. When you bought that pack or gal. of fuel. The more info you pack into it the more useful for you and others. Like If I wanted to find out what fuel others are using I could look and see. Probably get to know them a little better in the lookin'.
I'm really starting to like the idea of a members flight log/journal area. Where people can post on their own threads and keep a running journal. Discussions would be titled other than "flight log username" or "journal username" If we all update our journals regularly the chit chat will settle to the bottom and it would be self tidying. Post pics links to vids on your day in your own thread and what you did. Maybe give good ideas for others. Just sounds like a heli lot of fun all around.
I say let's do it up and make it a work in progress, and let it evolve into big fun.

Individual logs will make it easier to keep track of your own flying and maintenance. Also good to see what others have been doing too....

Hello folks,
Let's get started. Sue suggested that a new sub forum is created just for member's flight logs or journals so we can keep them orgonized in one sub forum. So here it now is has been created. http://helitown.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=49
