So, will the stock lv3 ama charger work on a 7.4v lipo 1200mah battery too? I would like to use the charger for both the stock batt and these batts:

and, a few of my r/c buddies are saying the lipos will catch fire easy. Has anyone had this problem so far?!?

Welcome to HeliTown, janikphoto. Is it the stock Esky Lama's Li Po battery charger like this one?

If yes - you can charge 2 or 3 cell li po battery packs. The one you are talking about is 2 cell pack. In terms of cells, I don't see why not but there is a note here for that Esky charger: "Fixed charge rate of 650ma (recommended for 650mah-1000mah Li-Poly packs). Not sure if this would be a problem with that battery which has 1200mAh.

There are Li Po battery safety guidelines you need to follow, usually provided with the battery. I see them on the same page with the battery. Refer to the battery section http://www.helitown.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=35 for more info on battery. I have not have one so far. But I shorted them for a few times when I was soldering the connectors :)

thanks. I'll know which charger it is in a few days, when my new heli arrives. Is there a good aftermarket lipo charger that will handle several sizes of packs?

I hope I don't short any packs when I put on my deans microplugs. Did you ruin the batteries, or did they still work?

There are a nearly infinate # of lipo chargers.

If you haven't bought the 1200 pack I wouldn't as it is a bit heavy for a Lama. If you already own it no harm in trying.

:D :D :D Ironically, they seem to work fine. Now, I use the electrical tapes to cover one end each time and always have someone help me so I don't have to hold the solder iron, solder and both connectors myself at the same time. It is hard when you only have two hands and you have to hold too many things. :D There are plenty of good chargers which you can charge different sizes (cells) of Li Po batteries at different speeds. There are some discussions about charger here. http://www.helitown.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=455
