Home made wooden crutch (frame) I like woodies they are more rigid than the AL an very durable/repairable. It has had 1/2" added to the rear strut mount to increase tail clearance. It is anti bling though.

Voyager E landing gear. Taller and more durable. Great set of legs.

Chopper-1 vertical fin. Delrin tough. The odd shape protects the tail in my many tail 1st crashes.

Ballistic Tech Hyper drive. quite and effective. I never had any real problems with the stock gear setup and lost a full min of flight time with it. I really like the silence though.

Ballistic tech tail belt drive. quiet. I lost a little flight time with it most likely due to it being a higher ratio. no stripping no problems I like it.

LMH 117 tail rotor blades the higher ratio allowed me to go smaller diameter and get more clearance for flying off grass.

Chopper 1 delrin tail housing. Even if you fly bevel gears this is a must have. Nearly indestructible. Cost is 3X the stock but you won't need another. Open end makes adjusting gear/belt easy.

Home made boom protector. The main blades will do a number on the tail boom. There is no light boom strike with a Corona. Don't even think about spinning it up without some kind of boom protector! Tightly roll up some news paper and tape it on, anything.

Electronics
Astro 020 4Turn.
HS-85MG on the main
HDS-577 on the tail
Gy-401
hitech 08RD (gonna have a berg 7 soon)
Hr-PolyX lipo alarm Keeps me from screwing up my battery packs.
PHX-45 a 3A BEC 25A would do but not all that much difference in weight and cost

I get 8 mins on 1700 mAH out of a 2100 mAH 3s1p. The alarm is set for 9.6v but I land by timer before it goes off.

Hi Steve,
8 minutes of 1700 mAh is not bad and that big heli. Do you know how much it weighs. Corona is the most durable helicopter and this is great for people who want to fly big helicopter. It looks very simple to set up and I heard that it is easy to set up. I am so glad to see more and more helicopters are made electric. Any other helicopters you are into now Steve? I am glad you join us.

I couldn't not show up! You'd tell Mrs M. on me .

The Corona I fly weighs in at~ 1Kg (+- 50g) depending on which pack I'm using. The 8mins is about as long as I care to fly in a set and it's easy on the packs. If I parallel them I get nearly 20 mins with to harm done but that's a long time for a Redneck to go with out scratching something.

I'm still running a pair of x400s, H2s, and some MDFs for indoors. I'm looking towards maybe a Logo 10 or 14 but I'm not in a hurry. Most all my helis come in pairs. I sold my spare Corona because it was like having a spare catchers mitt. You might need it but you can't break it so you just use the one you like the most.

The Corona is easy to set up but not so easy to fly well, but hard training is good training.

Logo 10 or 14 would be awesome. I am now kind of lack behind as I got into this web thing. But I like it too as I get to talk with people like you. Do you still do combating fights?

No Combat yet. I was pretty sure I mentioned I was just joking. If I handed Mrs. Watson a TX she'd just say "OK I'll hold it until you finish with that one". Occasionally she does engage in non RC combat with me, though.

My buddy Rick also has a corona also so maybe later. I can't get him to share air space with me for now. We go in turns.

I noticed that you have a base loaded antenna is it a home made or commercial one?

It's a 2 piece Deans. They go hand in hand with a corona, but I use the 1 piece on everything else.

I love these things! My friend and I went across the street and flew in a church lot. The wind was kicking big gusts. We both flew out the first pack with no mishapps. About 7 mins into the 2nd pack my tail belt parted. About a 30' drop as it wrapped around the main and stopped everything. No damage at all.

Out of sympathy he lost it nose in swooped shunted and crashed hard on the tail. Slightly bent boom but near the mount, where no knee can fit to straighten it.

We went to the garage and I installed another tail belt, he installed another tail, and straightened the other. Swear the boy is like Martha Stewart, even reassembled the newly straightened one.

We both test hovered then ate supper. Across the street again and I pigged up the last 8mins of daylite. 3 mins into that flight I came out of a 180 stall turn and discovered that a shadow was actually the ground. Banged it hard enough to rip both wire ties holding the front struts on but continued on. Set up for a landing and Rick says "It'll still fly" So I finished the pack. Really good time by all.

I need to order some more belts from SDI as I now know they fail after about 16 hours. About 3$ each and that was the sum cost of the day.

The only Vid of the day. My buddy made the down wind turn and headed back nose in. A gust stopped his FF and left him hovering nose in. It seems he forgot how to fly from there.

VID (http://www.1upcomputer.com/images/temp/Rick%20lands.wmv) This is a seperate incident from the one that bent the boom.

It's funny how you can hear the wind, see the shadows of the trees moving but the trees look like dead calm. It must be part of the compression.

All in all we were both pretty happy we left the x400s in the hangar.

On a side note after replacing the belt, it appears I'm back to where I should have been 1500 ma in 8 mins vice the 1700mA I'd been getting.
