I got a video of my minizoom flying in my office at night :D. It would go very well until I crashed it at the end

Hope you like it

Hi Thanh, this is awesome. I am wondering how could you do it at work place. I couldn't even bring my heli to work - let alone to fly in there. Are you the big boss or CEO of the compary? :) I saw your strobe lights they are great. Do you have the alarm on it too. I was having problem hearing the video.

Thanh, I think mini-zoom is more micro rather than sub-micro. Can I move the thread to the micro forum?
:)

Thanks Admin :)
I work in a private funded company so it's pretty flexible. There's no strict rule about what I can bring in and out. I bring my helis & plane there almost everyday. Even my VP of engineering likes to see how I fly :). I did this video late in the evening when there was no one around.
The alarm has 4 strobes on it and I didn't add beeper because this heli flies relatively closed to me even when it's out door(can't see well when it's far)

I thought the minizoom was smaller than micro (because it's smaller than a GWS dragonfly), but please feel free to move it to appropriate forum. Its rotor span is 13" obviously still much bigger than the micron which is only 8".

Thanks

Thanh

That is one of the best looking micro's I have seen :)
Please post a pic of it with canopy on if possible. I just love the micro's and submicro's, I think people underrate them.
very nice heli love the strobe.

Very eye catching.

The Broker, check out th Thanh's strob lights and Li Po battery alarm light! They are awesome. It tells when the battery goes low. I have a set on my MX400.

Hi thanhTran, :)
I think the white canopy is cool, my new raptor came with lots of decals and stuff but I have left it white. It has white skids like yours as well so it looks really clean and smart.
I have got 2 canopys, one for flying which is fluorescent orange one side and yellow the other, this is so I can orientate it when it is in the air but when it is on display it has a pure white canopy. 8)
My opinion is buy 2 canopys and keep one of them white.

Love the video, I have a photostudio that I can fly my Dragonlly around. Just wondering where did you get the strobes?

Nice fly Thanh, and thanks for sharing.

It seems like you use a cap cam too. I can't very often get any one to vid me either. I'm still trying to figure out if it's harder to fly or film myself. I moded a ball cap but I have to look down my nose at the heli to have it in the picture.

Nice flying there Thanh.
am sorry she had to go down... but this heli looks amazing, so small. so cute! hehe. like to see how it can handle 3d.
have you tried flipping it?

Admin-can you imagine what'd Adesh or Rosemary would do if they caught you doing something like that in *our* office?

You'd have to bring air cover...he got upset enough when I was testing one of my new digi q micro cars when we were over in the open area.:P

Are helicopters harder to fly the smaller they get?

08-19-2006, 08:00 PM
Rick,
Some of RC folks bring their helis to work. Thanh flew his mini zoom in his work place. But they are the boss so keep it off their rada as they rule.

Now back to the fun thing. Excluding the multi rotor helis, they say it is easier to hover a big heli heli than a small one like Blade CP or Esky Honeybee CP2. However, it is not neccesary easier to fly bigger heli than a smaller one. Others please chime in I don't have big heli experience like Trex600 or a Raptor.

Ouch!!!
I felt that at the end there thanhtran.
I have a huge area to fly at work but too many people would want to have a go without the remotest idea whats involved in flying such a skittish little machine.

Thanks for chiming in & watching the video guys :).

TheBroker, I will get another canopy then. I still have to take a picture of the heli with the canopy on ;) Thanks for sharing on the painting scheme.

Avalon, you must have a large photo studio there. It must be nice to fly there too. Hope you don't hit any of your light set up or backdrop. I build and offer the strobes. YOu can see more about them here: www.tjtrc.com. They also act as a lipo alarm.

Rick & Admin, I'm sorry that you two can't bring heli to work! I'm not any boss or anything :). We have 2 people at work that are interested in flying rc helicopter, and everyone else love to see how they fly once a while, especially my VP of engineering. He loves to see it and I almost hit him once with my plane before. He dodged it though :D. This small heli requires full attention and sometime doens't go where you want it to. I will probably make a similar video like that with my Trex. It's much more stable & easier :D.

HoverBovver, at the end of that video I was like ooouuuuchhhh! I had an incident that I was flying my swift, one kid saw me, and he ran in and grabbed my transmitter. I was lucky that I didn't loose my transmitter to him. Otherwise desaster could have happened.

Swatson, I mounted the camera at the transmitter so it was way down. I was thinking about making a head cam, but didn't realize that we have to look down to see the heli. Maybe we should have a cam that is smart enough and look for things that are flying ;)

Thanks guys

Thanh

Yah flying around looking like Ray Charles playing the piano is a pain in the neck (pun intended).

I need to get up in my attic and see if I can find an old hard hat. That would have a lot of potential. Secure harness and plenty of material to mount to. The bill on a ball cap just naturally points down.

I finally have a picture of my minizoom with the unpainted canopy on

I have to put wooden blades on and try a loop to see how it goes :D

Great video! That was pretty nasty seeing the blades fly like that when you hit that cabinet.

Thanks Gary :)
Yeah the blade flew away, and the heli dropped like a brick :p. It wasn't damage badly - benefit of the foam blade! :D. The foam blades flight slowly ok, but for outdoor and fast forward flights, it keeps pitching its nose up and down badly. I will put a wooden blade on and compare again.

adversary_D, if you get it, please share your thoughts about it. I like it every much for the look and the compact size it has but I've never have a chance to fly it yet. It is interesting that it is smaller than a Blade CP.

I think your VP should pay you extra bonus for your flying because it can be an entertainment for them. 8) 8) 8)
