But look at my poor old FP heli !! And I told every one that after a crash it just got up and flew again !!
After I changed the blades I did fly it through the arch and turned NI to fly back the other side !

A great pilot can fly heli with that condition. As for me, when I can't fly, I blame my heli. I would ask Eddie to take a look at my heli to see if anything wrong ? Actually it is my flying skill is not good enough yet.

It have hit something hard. I manged to learn on my Esky Honeybee FP without replacing a blade for about 6 months. I like a FP very much for hovering here and there. It is light and is not hard on the battery.
Not sure why this thread is in the off topic. Sue, can we move this to the micro forum?

I put it in here because its not meant to be serious Eddie its just messing about, I know its not really Off Topic but I thought if it was put in a heli forum it would appear as if it was meant as information on flying the FP and not just being silly with it. But of course you can put it in whichever forum you like Eddie :D

This video was just for a fun look at FP small helis to show how indistructable they are !! That set of blades came with the 2nd hand FP 18 months ago and the first time I have had to change them!
You can move this thread or we will make another video showing the difference between FP CP micros and T Rex - Mini Titan !

The little FPs are hard to fly but you sure get to fly them a lot without repairing.

Martin got through it but I didn't   The problem is, well in my eyes anyway....is that the FP is ok when in FF but to hover slowely through that arch is another matter.
Rex could have gone through there slowly but with me on the sticks he would have ended up something like the T-Rexs did when they tried the Align Fun Day obstacle course

Seeing all this made me break the moth out. Then realize it was somewhat setup for 3s. Converted to 2S and started setting up revo and gain. I got some really crappy vid 1/2 in and out of shade. Then went to the side yard and record more short flights Between adjustments / crashes. Came in to DL the movies and the camera bats are dead so I'm waiting on a recharge. Then I find out Jake's web site is down. Seems like a bad day for video.

6-20 good wacks and it'd fit :!: Speaking of it got a little windy for the moth so I went to the Corona, which is sporting a new tail servo and I'm having a hard time determining if it's just different or poorly setup. My R turns I never new if it was gonna yaw a little with a little input or yaw 90 instant. I know it's a little off right as my piro rates are different. I'll get it out where I have more room and get it setup. Here's a vid of the other FP getting owned by the wind and doing a suspicious amount of left hand turns. This should firmly secure my crown as worst pilot in HeliTown!

You did a lovely take off from that box but I notice you didn't land on it   so I will be expecting a vid pretty darn quick of you landing on that box and don't go moaning about the wind cos I'm not buying it
swatson144
04-23-2007, 04:43 AM
I tried several times to land on that confounded box (you know I tried). It was pretty windy and every time I'd hover upto the box the air would build between it and the heli halting it. As soon as the tip of the blades cleared the box the air bubble would be gone and it'd just shoot over it. Maybe on a calmer day I can sneak up on it out of GE and lower straight down on it.
As to my sweater my wife points that stuff out as needed.

That's a great idea Martin kinda a postal match/flyin. Except instead of posting targets with groups we post vids.
Maybe lay out a place to stand and positions for pads beginner would for example have all 3 in a row so they could takefoff move forward to a pad land back up to the launch pad and land.
The kit I was expecting came in today and looks good. looks like the only thing required would be a pinion to convert it.

Didn't get out the door yet, I was packing a box. I don't think size and class would matter much as it's just for fun any way. If there is any problem it'd be easy to split it into categories later. The CPs would have a decided advantage. I think keep it fun and not very serious the competitive peeps can get as serious as they want. I don't even see any reason why it should end just submit as many as often as you like. Maybe a monthly cup thing?

We are all waiting for this video !! Broker would not even tell me anything about it before she went off to work this evening !
Anyway, first who is up for this fun fly over the net ? Neil Steve Broker me, I recon Eddie will be but who else?
It's just for fun and I don't think we want loads of rules etc. Say just for starters, 3 pads, maybe the same size as your rotor disk ? maybe take off and fly off and land back on second pad, off again and onto the third. Can't just slide it over !!
Have a think, all tail in to satrt, but I am thinking we need to fly away before coming back to land.... Ok take off and hover over X spot before each pad landing ? That can test on the sopt hovering skills too !!
May be I need to have this post started somewhere other than here !!

Wow all that chasing around and I didn't see a single bee. How many did you get?
Yeah OK Steve    Its not that easy to land after hovering that low cos the wash from the rotors hits the ground and comes back up, thats why I went up and to the side to calm Rex down cos he was getting a bit excited
The worse bit was when his tail got caught in the grass  I really had to push him then or he would have tipped.
It was great fun though and I am going to try Tiddy cos she is my big gun so to speak 8)
Some one said to me why didn't I edit the vid shorter and I would like to explain that cos I could have done quite easily.
1..I could have made my flying look better by editing but I feel that doesn't show the true difficulty of the task....It would be unfair to make it look easy cos when someone else trys it they are going to think there's something wrong with their flying that they can't do it in one go, so I am keeping it real.
2..To me my vid shows the struggle to do something that is difficult and not give up....as a heli pilot if I was watching that vid of a member I would really feel for the person and want them to reach their goal and applaud when they did, we all know flying is hard and I am really looking forward to seeing the HeliTown members landing vids. So keep it real guys cos I for one will sit and watch if it takes all night for you to sucessfully land 8) 8)
I might add I am especially looking forward to commenting on Steves vid
Oh one last thing, it doesnt matter what heli you fly, it can be outside or inside with your co-axial just as long as you hit those landing pads.

I will add the post later today and I hope most of us have camcorders of some type that you can download to You tube... That's the only thing that may stop someone.
With twin rotors, these will be flown in doors, the pad could be a std DVD case, not the small CD ones, the ones that are a little larger that films come in. If not we could just use a magazine size 8 1/2 x 11 1/2 inchs, that should be ok for Twin rotors,FP oand CP ?
Broker will tell us the size for a T rex 450 class.
Broker and I used point system, 3 points for a land on the pad, 1 point if a skid is off the pad !

The lipo was spare after my piccolo died. The HS increases and you have to stick in quite a bit of rudder trim, but the overall performance doesn't change that much compared to using the 8 cell Nimh pack.
