Anyone able to explain the pros and cons for having an ESC with governor mode?
How does it affect filght performance compared to a non governor mode ESC.

Align has them for the 35A ESC, anyone has experienced it?

Hi balanced_mind,

I am gonna try my best by I am no expert on this. I don't have an Align 35A ESC but Hyperion 30A on my MX400/Trex Hybrid. I did set it up both in governor mode and non-governor mode. What I observed was my heli kind of bog down a little bit when the governor mode was turned on and I had to turn it back off. For some reason I did not like it.

What I learned from EHBG is the governor acts like a cruise control on our car tying to keep "the motor speed constant despite varialble load placed on the motor."

I think the purpose of the governor is to achieve that effect, but I think because my set up is not strong enough (or not optimal) when the governor is trying to maintain the headspeed at the same speed and when push it to the max, the heli bogs down instead. It might be just my set up is not good like I said.

Toshi explained it very well in his EHBG in the glossary section. He said when the governor mode it is used you should not set up your throttle to 100%.

I placed a link here in case you want to read more about it.

Thanks eddiemoth

also have a general understanding that the governor mode is to keep the motor speed constant with the different pitch conditions.

Will check on the link for more info. Thanks alot.
