What would you buy? Funcopter vs...
Even though I'm nowhere near close to mastering, or even mastering FF , on my Belt CP I've still be considering adding on to my heli collection.
A 500 series seemed like a logical one if did for the bigger size and thus stability but i'm thinking given the chance I get to fly even my Belt CP it might be wasted in that I'm not likely to ever become a solid 3D guy... really my goal is to be able to fly arouhnd nice in circles, circuit 8s, maybe gets ballsy a throw in a flip or Roll if I'm having a good brave day.
My other urge to buy was a FP cause it'd be a good spring warm-up heli for outdoors... and it'd be a good skill builder ... plus less breakable....but the separate tail motor thing on the eskys is a big detractor to me.
But this new Multiplex Funcopter which is FP and it looks BIG, bigger than the Belt, really seems like an intriguing option.
The cost of a RTF Funcopter vs a 500 are going to be not that far off.... what do u guys think about the 2 options? Would any of you get a Funcopter over building a 500?
Anyone thinking of getting a Funcopter at all?

Im glad someone asked this question, as I am in the same boat you are in as in not really interested in 3d. One thing for me though is that I have a Esky 900 (500 class) that I hope to get done this summer.
When i first saw this heli i fell in love with it. Its big, looks stable, nice scale like body, and VERY crash resistant so they say. It seems a bit pricey, but in my opinion for that size heli with that kind if crash resistance you might save enough on parts in a season or so that you might be thanking yourself later.
As for the fact that it is fp:

Another thing as well, if you crash what you call your main heli at the field you can always have this one on the side ready to anytime, no loss in flightime in my opinion is priceless !!!!!!!!!!
I plan on buying one for sure, its just a matter of when I got the funds.
Anyways just my 2 cents, happy flying and keep the shiny side up !!!

For me I found the real problem I had with advancing in the hobby was no decent sized field available for daily flying. The church lot across the street is pretty small and requires a heli that is stable and well mannered. Finding a heli that fit the field allowed me to start getting into actual forward flight without having to stay tail in all the time.
2nd problem is our usual calm days are ~10mph wind (this past summer was much calmer) so I wanted something more capable than the micro FPs I'd been learning on. The trex 450 etc is just too quick IMO for working on orientations without having a larger field where you can get a little altitude and not worry about hitting anything on the way down if you lose it.
I settled on the LMH Corona and fell in love with them. LMH has moved onto military drones and sold the Corona to Multiplex who has made extensive changes to it and is marketing it as the Fun Copter. If the Funcopter is an improvement on the Corona it is indeed a very desirable heli for fun and as a trainer.
Sometimes one just needs a durable trainer. The downside to an FP is that when they get additional lift from the wind at some point you can't just lower the left stick and lose altitude as that also lowers the head speed. You have to actually fly it down. Might not really be a downside since it's kinda forced practice.

I hear you onthe field size and wind issue... the highschool field near me is the best in terms of size but it gets windy there... and small fieare just that, small so margin for error is very slim with a zippy 450....
I'm thinking it might be a good buy in terms of getting comfortable w/ FF... I'm wondering what the kit will need to be completed... would love to put it on my Futaba 6EX
